(89 words)

The first road capable of being driven on on the predominantly plebeian Aventine in Rome, laid out by the plebeian aediles L. and M. Poblicius Malleolus (Varro, Ling. 5,158; Ov. Fast. 5,275) between 241 BC and 238 BC (Vell. Pat. 1,14,8; Plin. HN 18,286) from fines for embezzlement (Fest. 276 L.). The CP ran from the Porta Trigemina of the Forum Boarium along modern Via di Santa Prisca or modern Clivo dei Publicii (Liv. 26,10,5; 27,37,15; Frontin. Aq. 5).
